This past Monday I was out in Livonia for L&L’s tasting and at Comerica Park in Detroit for AHD’s. Both were nicely done and well setup, but the AHD event takes the case for most lavish. The setting, looking out over the ballpark , was impressive, and the foods were pretty lavish.
Top choices from the LL tasting:
‘02 chat. lafleur-gazin (st. emilion, iirc)
‘01 chat. magdelaine (ditto)

At home, I’ve enjoyed ‘94 Columbia Winery Otis Vineyard Cab, ‘03 Tohu Pinot Noir from Marlborough NZ, and a delightful Jao Pires dry muscat from Setubal, Portugal. A ‘97 Duhart-Milon Bordeaux fairly sucked, which was too bad; I expected better, though it wasn’t an acclaimed vintage. Oh, and ‘01 Schiopetto Blanc des Rosis absolutely rocks! Way better than a comparative ‘01 Jermann Vintage Tunina, in my opinion.
